Music is an essential part of every culture throughout the World and has a speciStingal place at Monrad Intermediate School.  Pupils take part in Music through a variety of activities and opportunities. All pupils attend Music as part of the Technology/Arts programme on a timetabled basis.

Monrad is proud to offer a variety of extra-curricula music opportunities.  These often include Band, Choir, Orchestra, instrument lessons, Productions, Talent shows and more!  Every Friday afternoon Monrad pupils and staff participate in Whole School Singing - come along and join us!

Music at Monrad in 2011 will be a packed programme full of music listening, knowledge, skills, history and practical sessions.  Using the National Curriculum and a guide, the following topics, themes and skills will be covered.

Listening sessions will look at the impact of music on society and seek to use both familiar and, possibly, unfamiliar music.  Themes include: NZ Music, Famous Composers, Music in Movies, Music in Advertising, Famous Guitarists/Riffs, Covers/Remixes and, of course, the band U2!

KEYBOARD:
Keyboard skills taught will cover a range of levels, starting with the basics.  Pupils will learn, practice and perform from a range of melodies.

RECORDER:
Some groups will explore the Recorder - learning, practicing and performing from a range of simple melodies.
