Introduction to food groups

This programme will contain both Fabric and Food. The programme will help provide students with the following:
– new skills both with a sewing machine and in the kitchen
– knowledge about food hygiene and safety
– knowledge about nutrition needs and food requirements
– opportunities to design food products and evaluate these while working with a partner 
This programme is an introduction to bio technology, food chemistry and processes. The program includes such things as:
– yeast and how it works
– microbes and essential conditions for growth
– creating end products from living things
– using the PH scale for ingredient testing and how and why we change
